There are many places to visit such as the pretty village of Mousehole, Newlyn to see/buy the newly landed fish, Lamorna Valley and Marazion. There are multi-screen cinemas in Penzance and St. Ives. The Acorn Theatre in Penzance and the Hall for Cornwall in Truro have theatrical and musical entertainment and there is the outdoor Minack theatre. There are craft shops and museums of many varieties including the Museum of submarine telegraphy at Porthcurno and the folk museum at Zennor. There are theme parks at Flambards and Land's End, the Gweek seal sanctuary, birds and animals at Paradise Park, Goonhilly Satellite Station and many mines including Geevor (which now does excellent underground visits), just beyond St.Just. As you drive around you will see ruined engine houses everywhere - evidence of the past mining industry. A number of artists and sculptors live in the area so there are plenty of art galleries. The spectacular north coast road from St. Just will take you to picturesque St. Ives with the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum. |
